On Wednesday, October 13,2021 an award ceremony was held at Knights of Columbus Hall in Mastic for members of Colonials Community Volunteer Corps. Many dignitaries were present to thank the volunteers and present them with certificates. Several volunteers received special recognition for their efforts.
Kathy Hanlon, Kevin Quito, Rosanna Iorio, Emilio Alfo, Darlene Hopkins, Kimberly Regan, Charlotte Corry and Lea Banguera were recognized for giving 100 hours of volunteer time; Louis Romero, Andrew Romero, Christina Walsh, Theresa Zagorski, Adryen Robinette and Davyen Robinette for giving 250 hours. Dina Bianco and Viola Cuomo for giving 500 hours and Thomas Pirello and Jessica McGinn for giving 1,000 hours. Volunteers are involved in many projects including, Graffiti Removal, Community Clean up, Flowers for Friends and community gardens.
After the formal ceremony guests were invited to stay for refreshments including delicious bake goods donated by a member of the community.
