Member of Colonials Community Volunteer Corps Receives Award
On May 10th,2019 CCVC member Jamie Regan received a Volunteer of the Year Award from the Town of Brookhaven Youth Bureau. Jamie and her family attended the ceremony along with Colonial Youth and Family Services staff. This event was held in the auditorium of Town Hall.
Jamie Regan is a member of Colonials Community Volunteer Corps. She has been an active member with Colonial Youth & Family Services for five years.
Jamie participates as a member of Colonials Community Volunteer Corps and has helped with many projects.
In addition to attending weekly training sessions Jamie has helped with Community Gardens, planting flowers donated by the Town Highway Department to plant at the Senior Nutrition Center, graffiti removal where volunteers have removed over 5,600 pieces of graffiti vandalism, publishing a quarterly volunteer newsletter, holiday assistance distributing food and gifts to over 200 families, participating in the Christmas parade before thousands of spectators, the Easter Eggstravaganza for 200 children sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, set up for the Walk to Fight Breast Cancer, set up the Smith Point Triathlon and 5k Run, and Flowers for Friends to sell flowers to raise money for fellow students who need financial assistance to attend the Senior Prom.
Through this project, Jamie has volunteered 560 hours of her time. Jamie is an excellent example of Community Volunteerism. She is eager to help others and displays a caring attitude in everything she is involved with. Jamie works consistently to make her community a better place for all. We appreciate Jamie’s good attitude and extraordinary efforts.
